Shoes to locate people
Ever heard of shoes that can locate the wearer? Miami entrepreneur Sayo Issac Daniel made a new generation of sneakers that promise to find out the wearer anywhere in the world at the press of a button. He has embedded them with tiny global positioning system (GPS) chips that can track the movement of its wearer.

The shoe design allows the wearer to press a button hidden near the shoe’s lace to send a distress signal. The wearer’s movements are picked up by the satellite, relayed to monitor centre and made accessible to caretakers by the internet or phone. Electronic alert is automatically issued if the wearer enters or breaks a predefined area.

The company also has put the technology into military boots and is in talks with Colombia and Ecuador, he said.Parents who buy the pricey kicks don't have to worry about their kids outgrowing them fast. In some emergencies — such as lost child or Alzheimer's patient — a parent, spouse or guardian can call the monitoring service, and operators can activate the GPS remotely and alert authorities if the caller can provide the correct password.
It's the latest implementation of satellite-based navigation into everyday life — technology that can be found in everything from cellphones that help keep kids away from sexual predators to fitness watches that track heart rate and distance. Shoes aren't as easy to lose, unlike phones, watches and bracelets.

“The shoes, called ‘quantum satellite technology,’ will hit stores in March at a price of $325 to $350,” said Isaac Daniel.
